Installing Active Directory(Domain) in Windows Server 2008

Installing Active Directory Domain Services (AD-DS)

In Windows Server 2008, unlike previous server operating Systems, there is an additional step that needs to be taken before running DCPROMO to promote the server to Domain Controller and installing Active Directory on it. This step is the installation of Active Directory Domain Services (AD-DS) role on the server. In fact, the AD-DS role is what enables the server to act as a Domain Controller, but you will still need to run DCPROMO the regular way.
AD-DS can be installed in one of 3 methods:

Method 1 – Server Manager/ Initial Configuration Tasks

Roles can and should be added from Server Manager (but they can also be initiated from the Initial Configuration Tasks wizard that auto-opens the first time you log on to the server).
1.                            Open Server Manager by clicking the icon in the Quick Launch toolbar, or from the Administrative Tools folder.
2.                            Wait till it finishes loading, then click on Roles > Add Roles link.

How to Increase the Size of C Drive (Primary Drive) without formatting

One day when I reached one of my offices I found a message in computer screen “low disk space”. The free space in c drive is very low. But there is enough space in other drives.
1,My First step to free up the c drive is Emptying recycle bin
Deleting the files in temp folder and using CC Cleaner But with these operations only a small space is free.
Then I found a technique in Internet to free up space in C Drive
Right-click the recycle bin.
Select Properties
Move the size slider down to about 2%
Click OK.
2,Other technique is using Gparted software.GParted is a free partition editor for graphically managing your disk partitions. With GParted you can resize, copy, and move partitions without data loss, enabling you to:

Grow or shrink your C: drive
Create space for new operating systems
Attempt data rescue from lost partitions
You can download GParted. Do a quick Google search and burn it to a CD or flash drive. From there, resizing and reconfiguring your partitions is straightforward.
Warning: When you start reconfiguring the partitions (When you click "Apply Changes" in the program), do not let the computer lose power. Otherwise, you WILL lose your data.
The Download Link is http://gparted.sourceforge.net/
3, Another Partition Manager Software is Norton Partition Magic. From this we can increase the size of the C drive.

Increment issue - Dopt order for Granting one increment to the Central Government Employees may be issued very soon...

The order for Granting one increment to the Central Government Employees may be issued in the first week of March 2012

Sources close to the DOP&T informed that the issue of granting one increment to the government servants, whose increment date falls between February 2006 and June 2006, has been forwarded to Finance Ministry for its approval. According to the sources, the Finance Ministry gave its approval to this proposal as agreed by the Government in the National Anomaly Committee.

The Federations representing National Anomaly Committee approached the Government to issue the order very soon, since the decision of granting one increment to the govt servants was taken in the National Anomaly Committee on 5th January 2012. It is believed that the federations were informed that due to the ongoing Elections for state assemblies in some states, issuing order is delayed. As per the Election Schedule the elections for state assemblies for 5 States are commenced on 28-1-2012, and the 6th phase of U.P and Goa State assembly elections will be completed by 03-03-2012. So, keeping in view of the above, we can expect that the order for Granting one increment to the Central Government Employees may be issued in the first week of March 2012.

According to the decision which is agreed by government in National Anomaly Committee, the govt servants will be granted one increment in the pre revised 5 CPC scale on 01-01-2006, and then it will be multiplied by 1.86 and the pay in the Pay Band in the 6 CPC will be fixed accordingly.

Bench warns Centre against filing appeals beyond period of limitation

The Supreme Court on Friday warned the Union government and its departments that bureaucratic delays could not be cited as an excuse or a ground for filing appeals beyond the period of limitation of 90 days.
A Bench of Justices P. Sathasivam and J. Chelamesar said: “the law of limitation undoubtedly binds everybody, including the government. The claim on account of impersonal machinery and inherited bureaucratic methodology of making several notes cannot be accepted in view of the modern technologies being used and available.”

Writing the judgment, Justice Sathasivam said: “In our view, it is the right time to inform all the government bodies, their agencies and instrumentalities that unless they have reasonable, and acceptable explanation for the delay and there was bonafide effort, there is no need to accept the usual explanation that the file was kept pending for several months/years due to considerable degree of procedural red-tape in the process. The government departments are under a special obligation to ensure that they perform their duties with diligence and commitment. Condonation of delay is an exception and should not be used as an anticipated benefit for government departments. The law shelters everyone under the same light and should not be swirled for the benefit of a few.”
The Bench said: “It needs no restatement at our hands that the object for fixing time-limit for litigation is based on public policy fixing a lifespan for legal remedy for the purpose of general welfare. They are meant to see that the parties do not resort to dilatory tactics but avail of their legal remedies promptly.”
In the instant case, Living Media India Ltd., which publishes Reader's Digest and India Todaymagazines, was denied permission by the Postal Department to avail of the concession to post the magazines along with booklets containing certain advertisements. The Delhi High Court, allowed the writ petition filed by the company and a Division Bench also upheld the single judge's order.
Former Attorney General and senior advocate Soli Sorabjee, arguing for the respondent, pointed out that since in this case the Postal Department had filed the present appeal in the Supreme Court after a delay of 427 days, it should not be entertained. However, Additional Solicitor General Harin Raval cited earlier decisions to justify the ground for condonation of delay.
The Bench said:
“Considering the fact that there was no proper explanation offered by the department for the delay except mentioning of various dates, according to us, the department has miserably failed to give any acceptable and cogent reasons sufficient to condone such a huge delay.
“It is not in dispute that the person(s) concerned were well aware or conversant with the issues involved including the prescribed period of limitation for taking up the matter by way of filing a special leave petition in this court. They cannot claim that they have a separate period of limitation when the Department was possessed with competent persons familiar with court proceedings.”
The Bench noted that even the certified order copy was obtained only after four months.
The Bench said: “In the absence of plausible and acceptable explanation, we are posing a question why the delay is to be condoned mechanically, merely because the government or a wing of the government is a party before us. Though we are conscious of the fact that in a matter of condonation of delay when there was no gross negligence or deliberate inaction or lack of bonafide, a liberal concession has to be adopted to advance substantial justice, we are of the view that in the facts and circumstances, the Department cannot take advantage of various earlier decisions.”
The Bench, while dismissing the appeal on grounds of delay, did not go into the issue on merits.

·  Postal Department filed appeal after a delay of 427 days
·  No proper explanation offered by department for the delay
